By All Means, Worship Jesus

In this sermon from Revelation 1:4–8, we consider a question that has stirred no small amount of discussion in recent years: Is Jesus worthy of our direct worship and praise? Some have argued that praise should be offered to the Father alone, but Scripture consistently presents a different picture. In this lesson, we look carefully at John’s inspired words and see Jesus identified as the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. More than lofty titles, these truths are tied to what Christ has done—and continues to do—for us: He loves us, freed us from our sins by His blood, and made us a kingdom and priests before God. As the text unfolds, the conclusion is unavoidable. The honor, glory, and dominion ascribed to God belong fully to the Son as well. By all means, worship Jesus.
